Terms of Service
By using Haul, you agree to these terms. They explain what we provide, what's expected of you, and how disputes get handled.
Last updated: May 25, 2026 · Effective date: May 25, 2026
1. The short version
- You must be 18+ to create a parent account. Kids of any age can use Haul, but a parent has to set them up.
- Haul is bookkeeping — we track what chores were done and what's owed. The actual money moves between you and your kid outside our system.
- Paid plans renew automatically. You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing; you keep access through the end of the billing period.
- Don't abuse the platform. No harassment, no impersonation, no using Haul to launder real-world payments through fake chores.
- Disputes go to arbitration in the state we're based in, except for small-claims-court matters.
2. Who can use Haul
To create a parent account, you must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. Children under 18 may use Haul only as kid profiles on a household their parent or legal guardian has created. By adding a kid to your household, you confirm that you're their parent or legal guardian.
We may suspend or terminate any account at any time for violation of these terms — including, but not limited to, fraudulent use, harassment of other users, or attempting to bypass payment.
3. Account responsibilities
- You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
- You're responsible for what happens under your household account, including kid activity.
- Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
- You're responsible for ensuring your kids only use Haul in age-appropriate ways. Haul is family-friendly by design but kids may encounter user-generated content (chore names, rejection reasons) that comes from you — moderate accordingly.
4. Subscriptions and payments
Pricing tiers
Haul offers three plans: Free (up to 2 kids, basic features), Plus (up to 3 kids, AI Smart Start, themes), and Family (unlimited kids, weekly AI digest, premium themes). Current pricing is shown on the Settings → Billing page in the app and on the Haul marketing site.
Billing
- Paid plans are billed in advance for each billing period (monthly or annual, depending on what you choose).
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details never touch Haul's servers.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- To cancel: go to Settings → Billing → Manage subscription. You'll keep paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Refunds
We don't offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-month, you keep access until the end of the period and aren't charged again. If you believe you were charged in error, email [email protected] and we'll work it out.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices in the future. Existing subscribers will be notified by email at least 30 days before any price change takes effect at your next renewal, and you can cancel before that renewal if you don't want to pay the new price.
5. Haul does not move money
This is critical to understand: Haul is not a payment processor, money transmitter, or financial institution for the parent-to-kid relationship. Kid "wallet" balances in the app are bookkeeping records — they reflect chores that have been approved and what's owed by the parent. They are not deposits, custodial accounts, or stored value.
When a kid requests a payout, Haul records that request and notifies the parent. The parent is solely responsible for actually transferring money to their kid, using Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, Apple Cash, cash, or any other method. Marking a payout "sent" in Haul is just bookkeeping; no funds move through Haul.
Charity donations work the same way: Haul records the kid's intent to donate a portion of earnings to a vetted charity, but at MVP the parent fulfills the donation directly. (A future Network for Good integration may let parents donate through the app; if and when that ships, separate consent will be required.)
Haul has no fiduciary duty with respect to wallet balances, payout amounts, or charity donations. Any dispute between a parent and their kid about whether a payout was actually sent is between them — Haul is not a party to it.
6. AI features
Haul includes AI-powered features (Smart Start chore generation, Weekly Digest) provided by Anthropic's Claude. AI output is best-effort, not a guarantee.
- Smart Start proposes a chore list; you review and accept or edit before anything is saved to your household.
- The Weekly Digest summarizes your household's activity using only structured stats — kid names are referenced from your own household data, never inferred or invented by the AI.
- You're responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before relying on it. Haul is not liable for chores you disagree with or summaries that miss nuance.
- AI features may be rate-limited, restricted to paid tiers, or temporarily unavailable due to provider outages.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Haul for any unlawful purpose
- Create fake households or fake kids to abuse free-tier limits
- Use Haul to launder real-world payments through fake chores or fake approvals
- Attempt to bypass payment, security, or rate-limiting mechanisms
- Probe, scan, reverse-engineer, or attempt to exploit vulnerabilities (responsible disclosure to [email protected] is welcome)
- Use Haul in a way that harasses, bullies, or harms a kid in your household — Haul exists to teach responsibility, not to be a punishment surface
- Upload content that is illegal, sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate for a family context
Violation of any of the above may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund.
8. Intellectual property
Haul (the app, its code, its branding, its design) is owned by Trackside Software LLC and licensed to you for personal, family use only. You may not copy, redistribute, or build derivative products from Haul without written permission.
Content you create in Haul (chore names, household data, notes) is yours. You grant Haul a limited license to store, display, and process that content for the purpose of operating the service.
9. Termination
You can stop using Haul at any time by canceling your subscription and (optionally) deleting your household. We can terminate or suspend your account for violation of these terms.
After termination, sections of these terms that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, dispute resolution) remain in effect.
10. Disclaimers
Haul is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We don't warrant that Haul will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We don't warrant the accuracy or completeness of AI-generated content.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Haul's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these terms or your use of Haul is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or one hundred US dollars ($100), whichever is greater.
Haul is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; if you're in one of them, the limitations above apply only to the maximum extent permitted by your local law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Trackside Software LLC (and its members, officers, and agents) harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of Haul
- Content you upload or generate in Haul
- Your violation of these terms
- Your violation of any law or another party's rights
- Disputes between you and your kids about chore payouts
13. Dispute resolution and arbitration
Most disputes can be resolved by emailing [email protected]. Please try that first before escalating.
Mandatory arbitration: Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of Haul that can't be resolved informally will be settled by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may pursue claims in small-claims court if they qualify for that court's jurisdiction.
Class-action waiver: You agree to resolve disputes with Haul on an individual basis. You waive any right to participate in a class action, consolidated proceeding, or representative action against Haul.
Governing law: These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive venue for any non-arbitrable claim is the state or federal courts located in Hanover County, Virginia.
Some states limit the enforceability of arbitration clauses and class-action waivers. If you live in one of those states, these provisions apply only to the maximum extent permitted by your local law.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes (changes that meaningfully affect your rights or our obligations), we'll notify you by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of Haul after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you don't accept them, cancel your subscription before they take effect.
15. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Haul.
- Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment: You may not assign these terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- No agency: Nothing in these terms creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship between you and Haul.
